Vtec Solonoid Problems
Unfortunately, I'm still having problems with my Vtec-e on my D17 after I did the headswap. My problem is still that after the first 15min of driving the vtec engages, it quits engaging. I took the solonoid apart today and cleaned it out. This problem still consists to happen. Reading more and more on the solonoid I noticed that another plug on the solonoid itself doesnt have anything to plug into. Any help?
Ive heard this the Vtec Oil Pressure plug. Since the swap it hasnt been hooked up and I dont know where I would. Please help. This problem is hacking me off.
Im assuming that white plug is the vtec oil pressure switch.

Yes, that's for the oil pressure switch. Are you sure your VTEC is engaging? Without the oil pressure switch the VTEC won't engage at all.

lol oh yea man! its engaging. I just dont get why its doing this. The write up on here says nothing about connecting this switch for the LX-EX swap, but im also wondering if it goes back to just a bad solonoid.

I'm wondering the same thing now. Test it. Could also be a bad ECM/PCM. I say this because that solenoid shouldn't engage without an electrical input from the ECM/PCM.
Sorry, don't mean to sound like a broken record.

Re: Vtec Solonoid Problems
nah your fine. sorry i forgot to also specify that I'm running an Apexi Neo to engage the solonoid, instead of getting an A2 ecu and having to flash keys and all that jazz.

i had a simaler problem too a while back. i check the oil pressure manually and 0 psi. so i took off the valve cover and saw a bolt laying ther. i was like WTF! well that hole were the bolt use too go was stripped out by my oil pressure. i remove it and staped a new big bolt and use thred lock. the hole is used for refill the engine with oil after a rebuild. the location of the bolt was by the vtec solenoid area.
oh and to check the vtec solenoid car off and diconnect the one wire vtec solenoid. use a wire and add power from the red positive battery to the one wire solenoid. you should here a click.

Re: Vtec Solonoid Problems
Alright. So the solonoid clicked like you said. Also realize that I'm running the pink wire from the Apexi Neo to trigger the solonoid. I just dont get why after a few minutes of the car running that it wont trigger. its frustrating the crap out of me. Anyone have anymore ideas? I replaced the solonoid and its still doing the same thing. I'm wondering if its something with my Apexi but i dont think so. Thank ya'll
