Icon5 looking to upgrade

hello all,

Currently i own a 95 lx sedan and am looking to upgrade to a new model. have been looking at 01-05 models, but after reading carcomplaints and other sites. I fear making the jump to any of these models. I was looking for an automatic so i could be lazy for a while, but now looking mainly at manuals. can anyone give me advice on making the jump what the pros and cons of each of the 4 years are so that i am not wasting time and money i don't have on repairs. Thank you in advance for your time and info. this upgrade is for daily driver nothing more, but needs to be reliable since i travel 88 miles a day 4 days a week for work.

Odds of finding a well-maintained 01-05 Civic will prove to be difficult. And, sadly, this is not a platform I would suggest for that kind of mileage unless you're planning on doing some preemptive work to ensure longevity (this coming from someone who's owned one for 15 years). Depending on your needs, a Fit, EP3 hatchback, or RSX might be a better choice (for the relative years you're interested in purchasing).

Thank you for the sound advice and for making me miss my 02 ep3 that i foolishly traded for a crappy subaru back in 06. I will look into those options. thanks again.

I actually just bought an 02 about 2 months ago. It's pretty beat up and seriously neglected. I spent more money doing necessary and preventative service to the car than I bought it for (timing belt, head gaskets, cv axle, trunk latch). But those repairs have all now been completed at 155k miles on the clock and i'm pretty happy with my $3k expense on an A-B car. The only constant issue that seems to loom with these cars in regards to drivetrain is the trans. Even if that goes replacements from lkq are only about $500 with 6 month warranties. I may resell in the future if i care about my image or I may drive it another 100k miles. Time will tell, but I am so far happy with my purchase. Definitely a great daily.

Ive had 5 now and 2 acura ELs

My 02 Si had 350 000 kms on it and only 2 transmitions. My other is an 05 auto with 250 000 on it and the tranny works perfect

You can find an 8th gen (2006 2010) now for a little more than a 7th gen (2001 2005)

And if you wanted to use your 1995 6th gen for parts almost nothing will fit a 7th gen (2001 2005)

Manufacturing date, sure. A large quantity of vehicles listed as 1996 models, were manufactured in 1995. However, the generation ranges are considered 1992-1995, and 1996-2000.
