Looking at buying an 03' EX sedan, I was just looking for some tips/info.
After searching for the last week I finally found an 03 EX (4 door, 125k miles) with a manual(why are manuals so hard to find!!!?). I was just looking for some info about some issues that I might look for/expect. I found this car on a used car lot today and everything about it seems to be in good condition. I didn't have time to drive it today, but I plan on going back in a day or for a test drive. I did turn it on, check out the body/tires, visually inspected the engine (fluids were all perfect, clean oil cap, also looked clean inside the valve cover). The engine sounded great, started instantly (the standard honda "durnt-durnt" and it was running). No sweeks or squeels, All I could hear was the AC and the light sound of an idle honda. I understand that I can't make a verdict without trying out the gear box, brakes, suspension etc. That's my plan for the next go. I was just wondering what other "hot spots" should I keep an eye out for on this 03 EX?
Thanks
Edit* title is also clean, no reported accidents or anything to cause alarm. It was just vague on maintenance, which seems to be normal for most carfax reports.

Maintenance (TB and waterpump maybe clutch if on og clutch) power door locks go out quite frequently. And autos have tranny issues but you're set on that.

I was looking at autos for a bit, but I decided to go with a manual after hearing about so many issues with the automatic in Hondas (especially accords!). My previous civic (95 EX) was a manual, so im already familiar with the whole concept anyway.
Thanks for the info.
Test drove an 02 EX (sedan)with an automatic. Only has 103k miles on it. Drove really smooth, about as smooth as a new automatic. Everything else was really great, seemed like an awesome car, engine sounded great. The only issue that I could find was a rattle when it idled coming from either the underside of the engine or underneath the middle console(ish) area under the car, after doing some investigation im almost certain it's just a loose heat shield.
My question is, should I try to stay away from the automatic in the 02? Also could that rattle be something really bad? (like I said it was definitely coming from under the car at the back of engine bay or under the center console)
*I actually just realized that I completely forgot to ask for a carfax, so I know little about the history. But i'll take care of that before I go any further.

The 02 auto was questionable....but so are tons of other autos. If the car was well maintained the auto trans wouldn't scare me away. My 04 civic has 124, 000 and shifts flawless.
