Almost dies near redline
I was on my way to work yesterday getting ready to pass a car. Downshifted and accelerated to about 5500 RPMS and the car pretty much died on me. A CEL came on, and the car was putting out a maximum of 10 HP, idling around 300 (sitting right on the stall line). Turned the car off, turned it back on and it ran fine. On my way home I decided to test it again...5500 RPM the engine did the same thing. Car is a 2002 Civic EX Coupe (Canadian Si to be exact).
I'm thinking my engine is trying to protect itself from something, but what? Knock sensor kicking in? Oil pressure low? Had to put a used engine in it a month ago, so this worries me....
