EX head swap California Legal???
So I was looking on 7thgen's website and saw a DIY to change the DX or LX head which is SOHC no VTEC to an EX which is DOHC W/ VTEC. What I am wondering is would I be able to pass smog in California. Specifically San Francisco Bay area?

Re: EX head swap California Legal??? (Ficky)
Yes, because it is an OEM swap. But for the record, it is not a DOHC swap... it is still a SOHC... but it has VTEC, unlike the D17A1 from the DX and LX.
You will have no problems, granted that you use an ECU from the EX of that year. |
It's also a lot of work for, at most, 10whp.

Re: (toyomatt84)
I agree with toyomatt. There's no way I would do an entire headswap just to get what I have now. But it's not my car and K swaps are expensive, so, good luck.

Re: (TN90accord)
if you have a lx though, its probably the best mod (price/hp) you could make (asides from a turbo). a ex head is at most like $400 and if you know how to do the headswap yourself, it's worth it.
