Yeah, back when I did the swap, I attempted to fit it... but it wasn't worth it. The K20 fit no problem, but the K24 was bulkier on the outside/top. You'd have to notch the structure, and I didn't see any point in doing that.

The D17 in my 04 em2 blew up so I'm thinking about k20 swapping it. Do I need to swap the tranny from a donor car if I already have a manual trans and wouldn't want to swap it?

You don't use the d series trans, use the k series trans. There's H2B and F2B etc but I've never hear of using a d series trans on a k and doubt it would be a good idea.
