Really depends on the person. If it's worth it to you, do it.

Its your money, i could never afford to boost or swap so it would be a fun project and in the future it would be worth it

Same as any coolant system. Take the radiator cap off, and let the engine purge the bubbles by running.

How would you get the engine to TDC? Manually turn the crank over after the car is off or what?
Also, how does the timing belt tensioner work on the D17?
I'm used to working on the D16

Default vtec head swap question

Hey i was wondering when u do the head swap the the ex head.. Do u have to tap into the oil pan and run return line for the vtec.. Someone on vadriven said that and i wanted to know if this is true or not.. Or is it simply take the existing head off.. Put ur new head on top of the block.. Hook up ur vafc 2 controller.. vtec solinoid, and put the coolant in and ur ready to go??? Might be missing some steps but u get the general idea..

nah u dont gotta tap into the oil pan..but you gotta get the vtec ecu and an ignition that goes with that ecu, or get your current key and ignition re-flashed.

or u buy a vafc 2 pnp harnass and u dont have to do any of that. U dont have to buy the ecu, get ur key reflashed, or the a2 engine harness.. Saves alot of trouble.

No D15 vtec here in Dubai only a D17 which is a VTI engine has a VTEC.
Will these work also from auto tranny engine then swap to Manual tranny??
Sorry for my ignorance..
TIA </TD></TR></TABLE>

i thought the Y3 was vtec??? we have the Y2 around here which is a non-vtec version...

I have an odd but troubling question. lol I'm looking at doing this headswap. I've got the parts lined up, and all that is left is the controller to handle the Vtec-E. I understand that the VAFC2 works as far as controlling the vtec, but does anyone know if the original VAFC will do just fine with controlling the vtec-e? Thanks.

Flip through this: http://www.apexi-usa.com/content/pdf6130.pdf

According to what their literature says, the VAFC will not work on our cars.
(see "vehicle application list" along with caution about using it on a vehicle that is not listed)

That manual was published in 2000, which might be why they dont have any vehicle listed over '99. Is there a more current manual for the vafc? I am planning on doing a lx-->ex head swap as well.
