why would you wanna downgrade from 1.7 tranny to a 1.5 tranny thats like swappin your d17 for d15 i would never swap my d17 for a d16 or d15

If it was possible to swap in a D16Y8/Z6 into our chassis without any major cutting welding and rearrangements, you would see alot more people doing it also.

Why? Don't need a K-pro, just slap on a chipped P28 ECU + it's got more potential than our D17's.

To OP: Just be happy with the transmission and be happy with the MPG our transmission gives us.

I want the transmission specifically for the cable driven linkage, nothing more. Have plenty of d15/d16 waiting just need a d17 transmission if they will work.

the flywheel, seals, and other misc parts are interchangable. i beleive ou can even use pistons from d17s in earlier d seres.

i soo thought this was dead as well.

hey got a question. I have an SI but on my carfax it says EX, wtf. Is this normal? how can i tell forsure if my car is an EX or SI?

BEcause i talked to the shop and they said if i put an SI tranny on an EX, i need to take out the gear ratio inside my current tranny and put onto the new one or ill get code errors like nuts.

i found an acura EL tranny which ive been told that its the Si clone.

The Canadian market Si is the USDM EX. The last time I checked, the part numbers are identical between the two chassis (with obvious exception to the badging). I doubt you'll notice any difference what so ever, when swapping to an EX transmission.

Hey matt, im picking up my tranny tonight but i want it i inspected. The trans shop told me that they would have to take it apart to check everything and im looking at 500. Worth it? I know it only has 30k km on it but just the chance something is damaged inside....would hate to install first then find out.

But he actually recommended me just have my current one rebuilt instead. $1800-2000 and he said they replace everything inside and 1yr warranty and it would be better than an 04 with 30k km. But mine now has 144000km on it. I hear rebuilds dont last?

I told him i want the 04 cause its supposedly doesnt have the 2nd gear prblrm that 01-03s have. But he said "theryre all lemons 00-05

I would make sure I purchased a transmission with some sort of guarantee or warranty, as I stated before. I don't see a need to have a transmission inspected once picked up with said warranty/guarantee, as it is entirely redundant and a waste of money and time. Rebuilds can last, as long as the procedures were performed by someone that is credible, and the owner isn't a complete dunce.

Either way, I'm getting tired of repeating myself to you. I couldn't make an improvement on this statement...

I've given what information I have on the matter, and there really isn't much else out there... even if you search for some time.

Ok thanks, sorry I dont mean to make you repeat yourself im just wanting to make sure i make the best decision thats all. If it was you, you would probably just get the 04 one with 30,000km and install it eh? Yes the place is giving me 90 days warranty.

I would have bought it as soon as I had a problem, and just got over it.

I got two choices. I was gonna buy from this guys house but the warranty is really important to me. Im worried about buying from him than he takes off if i run into problems. I asked for his number but he said he lost his phone hmmm. His only has 30,000km for 800. But dont really wanna take the risk of this guy not honouring the warranty.

So instead tommorow im gonna get the one from a junkyard here that offers 100 day warranty. Theres is $750 with 34,000km. I just feel more confident knowing they will be easy to get a hold of if something goes wrong and the family who runs the shop is so nice. Nice to have the piece of mind.
