Default 2001 Honda Civic lx

okay so I'm getting desperate at this point and not sure what my cars issues can be at this point. I'll be driving and after a long distance (about 30 or so minutes driving) the car will begin to shake especially when in idle. Following this shaking, the cars check Engine light will come on and will go into limp mode where the speed drops to 20mph and is unable to go faster no matter how hard I press the gas pedal. Eventually after driving in this limp mode for a while, the car will turn off. When I try to turn it back on again, I will sputter. ***NOTE*** that for some reason this only happens on hot days (I live in socal so it's kind of undrivable right now). On cool days or during the night, this never happens.
I have replaced the fuel pump, catalytic converter, have cleaned the idle air control valve, replaced the spark plugs, each time thinking this issue would be fixed.
Now, the only thing I suspect may be the issue is error code p1298 that got scanned a while back ago (electric load detector high input) but I'm not sure because frankly I don't have much car experience. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated

Well, first of all, you shouldn't drive it until you get this sorted out. The more you do, the bigger the risk of damaging your engine beyond repair. The car knows what's wrong with the check engine light. When the light comes on, plug a scan tool in or flash the code:
Then come back with that code so we can help diagnose it.

I should also note: the code is typically stored in the ECU even when the light is not on. Most auto parts stores offer free code reading services, give that a try.
