Ideal header and exhaust setup?
The stock muffler has broken off the car last week, was quoted approximately $350 for a new muffler. If the car was stock I would consider it, but since I have Stage 1 cam installed I see this as a good opportunity to swap out the header and exhaust system to gain power from the cam. See thread below to see engine mods done to the car.
Stage 1 cam dyno:

My goal here is not maximum top end power, but in the mid rev range. Defeats the purpose of the cam I know but I want power that can be used when cruising the highway.
Here are some guidelines for header/exhaust setup:
-Must pass emissions in the state of MA (catalytic converter + resonator).
-Looking for quiet exhaust since it sounds like crap with an automatic.
-Muffler needs a stockish look, do not want 3"+ diameter opening.
-Need pipe diameter ideal from beginning to end for max torque in mid rev range.
-Made from stainless steel since I deal with snow and salt in the winter.
Per the guidelines I provided, is there an ideal exhaust set up you would recommend? Would I be better off going for a custom exhaust? I am aiming for best bang for the buck here.

To be honest, you're not going to gain much at all (power-wise) from whatever setup you go for. So, I would choose something reputable and quiet, like a Magnaflow, Tanabe, or Apexi exhaust. As for your manifold, I do not know of many options for a replacement manifold. I'd lean towards DC if they make a stainless header for the car.

That included parts and labor. Was made an offer for a used sedan LX exhaust, might consider it depending on price. Is OEM LX muffler interchangeable on EX exhaust, how much of a downgrade would it be if it is?

Re: Ideal header and exhaust setup?
Getting a used DC Race header with hi-flow cat welded to it. Would the stock resonator fit without air restrictions or should I go aftermarket? Now hunting for muffler, keeping an eye out for 05-06 RSX-S muffler.

Re: Ideal header and exhaust setup?
Do any performance catback exhaust kits come with a resonator? From what I am seeing the answer is no, can't find a performance muffler with tips smaller than 3 inches.
Any catback exhausts you know of come with resonator and tip <3"?
Thanks
