it's starting to make rattling noise when the AC is on. assuming it's bearing or something wrong with the compressor.

anyone have oem service manual/helms/haynes for civic hybrid? how difficult and how dangerous (proximity to the orange wire) is this job? dealer's quoting $1500. indy's ballparking $1200.

you need a a/c machine to do this right if you don't have one your going to illegally let it in to the atmosphere and your not going to fill it properly it's not a hard job other then that make sure you replace the o-rings and add oil when your done

Probably just a compressor clutch bearing, you can get them after market, as well as clutch repair kits. On most cars you can remove the clutch assembly without removing the compressor, or recovering the refrigerant. No idea how difficult this would be on a hybrid Civic.
