Default 2005 Civic - P1457

Im having trouble with the P1457 code on my car. I had the EVAP 2-way valve replaced by Firestone but now they are saying the second valve is no good.

How many valves are connected to the P1457 code?

I believe there are three on the canister and one sensor at throttle body these are pruge solenoids. I have replace the whole think it started with two of valves at the canister but then it was still giving problems so I replace the whole thing meaning the whole canister along with valves etc. from honda dealer. Hope this help.

I replaced the By-Pass Shut Valve and Canister (since it is attached to the valve) to solve my P1457 code.

Default 4 questions guys

Hey guys,

I have a Honda Civic 2001.

Its giving me the P1457 code.

I have to pass an emissions test this month.

1. Can I unplug the battery (or remove the right fuse) to turn off the Engine light and then replug the battery wires, drive to the test, and pass it that same day???

2. Does removing the battery power reset the code P1457 ?

3. If my Engine light turns off does that mean the computer wont issue a P1457 error code when hooked up to the emission system?

I have the same code on my 2003 EM2.. Does it mean that our cars waste fuel or it's not really noticeable? Thx

this is an Evaporative Emission code so you will not notice any driveability issues or and change in gas mileage. it just means if the system isnt working correctly (reason a code is set) you could be allowing more fuel vapors (unburned hydrocarbons ie smog )to vent/escape from fuel tank system than normal.

Disconnecting the battery cables WILL turn off the engine light, but will also cause the radio to fail. You will need the security code to turn on the radio. Also, if there is a real problem with the P1457 it will come back on after a few short trips. There is a run cycle the car goes through.

1. No you cannot because the engine monitors will fall out of readiness once you reset the computer or clear the engine codes. You would have to disconnect/reconnect the battery and drive the car for a good 30k to allow most of the monitors to ready before taking it in for an emissions test.

2. Yes it does but the code will eventually reappear.

3. No it won't issue a P1457 error code when hooked up to the emissions system, but it still will not pass emissions due to your engine monitors not being ready.
