2003 Civic lx engine won't stay running
I drove my car last night and it was running fine. I went to a bar around 7:30 pm and was there about 3 hours. When I got in my car to leave the car wouldn't start. Or better yet, it would start but then immediately die (within 1 second). All the power sources in the car are working properly so I know it's not the battery or alternator. I've checked the fuse relay panel and it doesn't seem to be the source of the problem.
Anyone out there have any idea why a 2003 civic would start but then immediately die? I was thinking possibly fuel pump but I don't know?
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

i can say with certainty that have a good mechanic change the inside of the fuel pump from Autozone (costs $120) and have it replaced along with a fuel filter/strainer and it will start and run very smooth.
I did this thing 2 days ago on my 03 Honda Civic Ex which has fuel pump on the center of the backseat.Take it out and replace it all.If u do it yourself take pictures after taking out to see all wiring thoroughly. also do not foget to put on the O rings that come with the fuel filter/strainer. Having pics in front of you makes it just very easy and convenient to put it back as it was originally handled by Honda.

try spraying some carb spray into a hose that goes into the intake manifold while someone starts the car. if it keeps running you've got a fuel problem.

Maybe it is the best car you ever owned? Why... after 3hr's at the bar maybe it saved you a DUI?! Lol... just kiddin pal... sounds like fuel to me. More than likely a bad fuel pump... in most vehicles if you turn the key to run and off and then back to run and off a few times and then immediately start it up, if it runs for a few secs and dies then it's the fuel pump not priming enough pressure... any codes?

Problem still not fixed. Tried spraying some spray into the manifold which didn't work. I have my dad helping me now (hes an ASE certified mechanic in all 7 tested fields and has 35 years experience) and we still can't figure it out...might take it to a Honda dealership soon if we can't figure it out

We were pretty sure it wasn't the fuel pump but decided to shell out $230 and buy a new one anyways just to be sure. It's not the fuel pump...haha. Thinking it might be computer related? What are the chances of that?

I have the same problem with my sedan Civic 2001 sincs 2 weeks... At the car service they could not tell me anything. The immobiliser and fuel pump is okay, they cannot say anything more... Next week I will take it to an official Honda salon, maybe they can help. Hope not for a smaller wealth...
