Want to Get Window Tint
I have a 2000 Civic and am considering getting a tint just to block UV rays (damn cancer) First, does anyone know how much of the UVA and UVB the side windows block? From what I've searched, that age car's side windows dont block any of the UVB.
Second, can you recommend a very light tint? Third, can you recommend where to get tinting done? I'm defaulting to ziebart, but I've read some horror stories. any help would be great! |
Re: Want to Get Window Tint
I would call around tint shops and see what they offer. Around here its about $200 for a good tint job with quality film.

Re: Want to Get Window Tint
i had 50% on my old car and it was not enough. i'd go with 35%. gives enough darkness but still can see fine at night.
a lifetime warranty 3m job around my area is 300 |
Re: Want to Get Window Tint
Go with 35%.
Won't much a lot of difference but you will now it's there. Expect to pay $180-$200 for a decent job. |
Re: Want to Get Window Tint
where are you? here in nc, i had my windows tinted 20% for $80 (2 years ago august), and to date there are no bubbles/turning pinkish-purple

Re: Want to Get Window Tint
I'm in the midwest. So I'm assuming what most of you are saying is if a shop is charging < $100 I'm taking a risk of a crappy job?
Does anyone know how much UV the stock glass blocks? I know newer cars are coming out with special glass that now blocks the UVB, but for 2000 i'm assuming it doesnt. |
Re: Want to Get Window Tint
couldn't tell ya. just go with a quality film such as 3m or something of the likes. If its not good it will turn purple or get hazy looking. than you look like a jackass for having crappy tint
