Re: Progress - EJ8 coupe
I've know NOFX since before she started modifying this car ... and a GSR was always the plan. When did she ever say she was keeping the Y8 for fuel efficiency? I know she's talked about keeping her Y8 around, not in the car, to just HAVE the original motor.

Nope, I've been wanting to swap for awhile. I just kept the Y8 because, well, it was my stock engine and I wasn't ready to swap yet. I still have it. I want to keep it since it's the original and it's not like it's worth a lot of money.
The interior is doing okay. Could probably use some seats and a wheel in particular. I'm really picky about it all though. I don't like aftermarket wheels or black wheels, for example. I'd prefer a dark gray one. It's not been the main interest though. I mean, the car is still comfortable to drive and that's mostly what matters to me. Comfortable, safe, reliable.
I have a parts list in the first post. I tried to get everything listed but I probably missed some parts.
I just got this little gem in my PM box btw.
If you're going to insult me, just come out and say it in the thread.
I never did anything to you.
If you read through the thread you'd see I've been thanking everyone for their compliments as a whole. I haven't been thanking everyone one by one for liking my car.
Oh, and don't message me again. In fact, I'll help you.

I never liked the bright blue / Milano Red combo that was so popular about five years back or so, but I think it works with how dark these wheels are. This color seems pretty easily affected by light level too. I couldn't take a photo of them looking blue at all if they're in the house.
Thanks again for the compliments.

Interesting you mention the sideskirts since those are the sideskirts that go with the kit. I've actually gotten this complaint mentioned a few times before. All '96-'00 coupe/hatch US sideskirts are structurally the same.

The muffler can't really be raised unless I cut the metal hangers, which I'm not really wanting to do. I'd prefer the tip be a bit more to the left if anything, but as I said... The rubber hangers are of the short variety and are already turned inward and diagonal in order to mount the muffler. There is no way to move where the tip currently sits without cutting the metal hangers or bending them, which could cause more problems with mounting. It's already tight in there.

The part seems pretty quality to me. I've seen Eran go through a LOT of exhausts and he's had tons of problems with some of them. At least I don't think we'll ever have to deal with another Skunk2 exhaust in this house, nor any straight pipes. And of course no GreDDy mufflers. There's just not very many mufflers that I like the look and sound of.
This piece is solid and sound, plus, one of my number one concerns: it's quiet! It's quieter than the ARC box and quieter than my stock mufflers ever were.
This wasn't the muffler I was initially looking for, but the muffler I was hoping to find just was not coming up. I was even told by one company that they'd only seen one in something like ten years. No one else even mentioned ever getting one in stock. Plus I heard reports it was loud. I loathe loud exhausts.

If you don't mind me asking...what muffler were you originally looking for?

I know they're the stock side skirts...they just seem too small to match the size of the f/r lips IMO. And I feel you on the skunk2 and greddy exhausts...not only are those loud but they're also ugly.
