ive talked to the owner of the vehicle and its not really gold plated. they polish the product and then spray a yellowgoldish paint and it comes out like that..

I think it is gold plated, either that or its brass plated. In my opinion thats too reflective to be painted. Plus gold plating isn't that expensive, especially to someone who can throw on some ITBs on their engine. I'd says it was probably $150 to plate all that. If you polish metal then spray it with paint, I don't see how the paints sticks without etching the metal or even shows the reflectiveness of the material through the paint.

It makes me laugh when I see guys buy gold metallic paint at autozone and expect it to look like something that is gold plated. Then they take their time to prep everything only to get crappy results, ending up with something that looks like a turd sprinkled with glitter.

Re: (B_CRUZ!)
its done by spraying two chemicals (can't remember what theyr called, uses special spray guns), and it gives the look of chrome or gold, thats how the car above was painted.

Yeah, I don't think you can paint onto polished surfaces, as the paint has nothing to adhere to. I may be wrong though.

Re: (Baggy Spandex)
I don't think it's a spray on gold of any type..
They use the same process of chrome plating. They dip the products in a acid to strip it and clean it. Then another to solution to make it chrome/gold.
having alot of cousin's that have lowriders and all. They do alot of chrome/gold plating.

Re: (Baggy Spandex)
Looking at it one way would be getting it anodized.... A cheap way to do it though would be to polish whatever part and get a transparent paint and lay a couple coats down.....
random pic of anodized **** but you get the idea
