Finished painting my Prelude Base Rims
I couldnt find my other thread so started a new one with all the pics from beginning to end.. I looked through so many threads and posts on how to paint Rims and just went with it. This is the first time I did it.
https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...paintsused.jpg Krylon Primer (2) Duplicolor Metallic Paint (2) Krylon ClearCoat (2) Sandpaper Heater Index cards Tape Started off like this : https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...mz/before1.jpg Sanded Down: https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...amz/during.jpg First Coats of Primer: https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...mz/2ndcoat.jpg https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...mz/5thcoat.jpg Now I left the Primered for about a week before I painted to see how it held up. I used 1 1/2 cans of the primer on all 4 rims. I spray heavy and often to make sure it would stick Result: https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1.../onthecar2.jpg https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1.../onthecar1.jpg Now I started to lay down the Paint: https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...mz/1stcoat.jpg https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...mz/4thcoat.jpg https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...z/closeup2.jpg Now I used the Metallic Paint and it came out veryy shiny but It was ok... I layed the rims down and set the heater to high in the garage and left them for about an hour. I layed down the clearcoat heavy like 3 times in 15 mins. It became very thick and wasnt drying, so i just decided to lay down one more coat of paint them clear.. that got it a lil darker and hardned quicker. Final Result: https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...amz/after3.jpg https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...amz/after4.jpg https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...amz/after2.jpg https://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y1...z/after1-1.jpg I think they came out pretty good concerning I only spent about 40$ in materials. Winter Rims so I dun care too much. Maybe I'll add a harder clear later on. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif |

I think it was a 60 grit but dont hold me to dat.. I just sanded as hard as i can and primered and sanded again.. probably about 3 times to make sure the paint will stick
