Death from CF hood!
I just heard a story here that someone in their EG hathback with CF hood got into an accident, and ended up cutting their own head off from the CF hood going through the front windscreen. The hood was so strong that it didnt bend in the middle, but came off the hinges and went right through the windscreen.
I think I have second thoughts now about getting a CF hood. IF it can bend (like Alulminium) then that's good enough for me

Re: (kwik2nec)
Apparently the accident happened a little while ago at one of the midnight racing meets here - I didn't know about it until my friend told me a couple days ago when I suggested that I was going to buy a CF hood for my Evo 6.5 - I confirmed the story with two of my other friends in the "midnight" scene, so I guess its real.
it would've been nice... oh well.. safety comes first

I don't think hood pins would help. If the whole front of the car is being pushed towards you, then the hood pins and hood are gonna move with the front and possibly lead to unfortunate decapitation...

This is not the reason i took it off. I took it off for a different look.

i got in an accident with my old car that had a CF hood and it bent up and crumpled, but when we took the hood off the car it sprung back to its normal position..........i just cant see it coming off the hinges unless ur going like 100+ or something if that

I think your friends are BS'ing. I've personally seen front end crashes with a c/f hood, and it crumpled up. I dont see it coming off the hinges and cutting your head off.

Re: (Drunk-N-Munky)
this sounds a lot like the stories that floated around a few years back about how passengers got decapitated in accidents from license plates that drivers had on their dash.

Generally, a carbon fiber hood will break if there is enough force applied to it. If this hood was able to come off the hinges, then the fiberglass skeleton was poorly made. Also, windshields can usually stop a cf hood.
Although now that I think about it, Thailand does not require safety class in the windshield do they? Here in the US windshields have a layer of Lexan or similar product to prevent shattering.

Re: (B Speed)
adding to above, should the hood jus slide over the windshield and over the top?
i dont think hood pins would have dont anything. they probably break off too.
