Default Civic Project - #450,375 *UPDATED*

UPDATES
January 8 - Page 3 https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=3

This thread is of my project 92 CX hatch. I’m starting it mostly to have a nice memoir for myself to look back on. I bought the car about a month ago with intentions to race it at my local track next spring and just to have a nice non-daily driver (my DD is a 5th gen Accord). I bought it for $1500 with a little under 111,000 miles and an over abundance of rust. But it was just how I wanted it, red with an all black interior, so I paid cash.

Here is when I got it:

And the rust...

Because it’s a CX, the first item I bought for it was an LX cluster from a junkyard for $20. Since then I haven’t bought much, only ES’s hyperflex kit and rust repair quarter panels.

I’m very picky with my cars, I have to know EVERYTHING about them. So I pulled the powerful d15b8 out of it and right now it’s gutted (in search of every INCH of rust). Every bolt that comes out gets wire wheeled to raw metal and torqued back to perfection. The front suspension was rusted worse than any car I’ve seen, I broke 3 breakers on an axle nut. I brought the entire axle and brake assembly into Auto-Zone, they couldn’t do it. I went to a local garage... standard impact, no. Monster impact the size of a football finally got it. Since then, I’ve started to wire wheel front suspension parts for repaint. I used an anti-rust primer and anti-rust paint. The lower control arms look new.

Here’s some pics (with a cell phone, I’m getting a digital camera soon):

I'll try to update after every weekend.

Every Civic in Wisconsin has rust. I was offered a $3000 check a week after I bought it. I declined. The interior is mint other than the ripped seats. The body has no dents, the jambs were just repainted, and the whole underbody was undercoated. And like I said, the black interior is that valuable to me, I seen one (black interior conversion) sell for $800 on ebay.

You were offered double your purchase price a week after you bought it and you didn't take it? You're a ******* idiot.

Exactly. If anyone must know, I would have refused nearly any offer, it was a headache getting the car. And the $3000 offer was really a "I'll-write-you-a-$3000-check-if-you-cash-it-in-a-week" offer.

I don't care if anyone here thinks I'm a moron (or an unnessarily vulgar term "******* idiot") because nobody here understands how I got it, who the offer came from, my past car purchases, what work I already did, and my passion. I don't care to explain, I want this thread to be a progression of my car, not an argument.

Yeah, that sounds just like me. My engine burned a little oil so I sold the block and tranny for $150. I didn't need it, so I didn't care. I can't wait until I can drive it again... Do you have a page like this?

Honestly, drop it... Nobody knows how much work I had in it the first week already.

It's actually a former barn. I'll get a pic of the organized area when Sprint picture mail is back up again.

Quality is bad but you can see the seats behind the stairs and the boxes behind the table is the car's interior.

that's some nasty honda rust, fixable though
Here's a how-to I made when I fixed my honda rust by welding in new 1/4 panels:
