Where would you put that? The place where the bumper and fender meets?

Re: Bumper quick release

that doesn't look like anything special that you'd have to order from overseas.

check out the dzus style fasteners. a lot cleaner looking IMHO

Re: Bumper quick release

what i want to know is WHY THE HELL no other company has made the quick releases like srr?!

seriously. its stupid.
i'm sure they are insanely cheap to make
and people are willing to pay a decent amount for them.
someone who has a machine shop...MAKE SOME!!!!

btw, how do these hold 2 panels next to eachother together? am i missing something?
they seem to be only useful to hold 1 panel down for easy removal, not holding corners of 2 panels together.

Re: Bumper quick release

i found one guy made some asked him about them but never got back to me.

Re: Bumper quick release

the ones you posted would probably need to be riveted in, and i dont know how well thats going to work on a plastic based bumper.

seriously some people need to start finding SSR ones, because i need an effin set hardbody.

Re: Bumper quick release

Probably the neatest form of quick release I've seen is in somebody's build thread. It looks like 2 little buttons (one on bumper, one on fender) with a kind of thick rubber band around both to hold it together.

Re: Bumper quick release

When i bought my car it had something like this, and one part was riveted to the fender and one to the bumper and the guy didn't have any bolts in, just the grill pins and the latches done and i got a front lip and put it on and the extra weight from it made the latches come undone when i hit a small pothole on the interstate and it resulted in cracking my bumper and ripping the front lip off.....

needless to say i've replaced the bumper and fenders to get rid of this problem. the only thing that could have helped is if the bottom of the bumper was bolted in to its place, but then how is it a quick release?

EJAYSICKS Jan 19, 2009 08:46 AM

Re: Bumper quick release

This may be a stupid question but oh wells.. If you have the SRR quick release on there do you still put the bolts on above the grill and the 10mm bolts on the bottom of the bumper? I guess this takes away from those stupid screws in the fender?? Not much of a "QUICK RELEASE" if you still have to take all the other bolts out before removing the bumper..

Re: Bumper quick release

i would still use all of the factory hardware and use the quick releases just for looks

that would be super m4d ricer y0 :crook:

Get quick-release hardware if you need it. If you still use all your stock hardware along with it, it becomes pointless and you look like a dumb poser.

What would you do? What all would you use if you had the SRR? I'm still wondering what to use.. I take my bumper off just about every saturday and change lips..

PatrickGSR94 Jan 19, 2009 09:35 AM

Re: Bumper quick release

Well that's cool if you actually use the quick-release hardware to replace other stock hardware to make the bumper easier to remove and put back on. But otherwise it's pointless.

id rather be safe then sorry. i mean it wouldnt takes but 2 sec. to steal them and if they do get stolen then what? drag my bumper all the way home? its just in case the rubber breaks or if they get stolen its good to have the factory hardware on there

Royal_C!ty Jan 19, 2009 03:40 PM

Re: Bumper quick release

honestly imo there's no reason for the releases if your going to keep the hardware on the corners, it's just one more piece to remove during bumper removal (the rubber band) place you'll be putting holes in your body panels for practically no reason....

just use the stock hardware..

exactly. It's just like buying super-expensive mad JDM light-weight racing wheels, but only using them for show and throwing on cheap Rota wheels for the track. :crook:

I didn't say DD. I rock Rotas for DD myself.

I was talking about buying racing wheels but then using cheap, heavier wheels for the actual racing.

ams and john sheppherd both use rotas on their drag cars
