I love the j swap but you guys are doing it all wrong!!! It was meant to be a rear engine rwd. I can't wait for my wife to finish nursing school and then I will be putting a j in the back of my civic hatch!!! Has this not been done yet????

All the one I have seen are front engine rwd. I have only seen one mid engine j swap and that was on a blue ef hatch.

Rim size has nothing to do with ground clearance as long as you are running properly-sized tires. For example, a 205/55R15 has about the exact same diameter as a 215/40R17. If you want to gain ground clearance you can go to a larger diameter tire in any rim size.

Its nice to see ppl using intake manifolds instead of holes in their hoods now.
id really like to have a 4WD hatch with a J in the back. That'd be ****** nasty fast, 15,000 rpms in a civic

Where are people getting their 6speeds tho? I keep seeing prices around 1,200. I need a full trans swap tho, harness computer pedals transmission shifter etc etc. My 04 accord's automatic is very sad.

Would love to put a J swap in my 98 CR-V. Would probably get about the same MPG with a ton more get up and go.
Also IM to hood clearance wouldnt be a problem, the CR-V has a ton of room above the motor.
.......Hmmmmm

Lots of tranny info here
Most of us are doing the entire swap though, which is a little bit easier than converting an auto Accord.

it sucks cuz lots of ******** are like "oh we can get u a tranny but were gon a charge you 250 more than we paid"
then I tell em to get me the ECU, harness, pedals, shifter, everything, then they act dumb and i insist they tell me if they have a car or not and they're too dumb to understand i need to rape a 6-6 accord and i would rather do it myself.
edit. Atleast I have sum civic to play with in the mean time. I think I'm just gonna b swap my dx coupe, boost it and sell it. Then bring my accord to Paul. He pretty much told me I cant do it myself, but I still wanna try. I'll still probably only be able to get the parts, do the clutch job etc, and leave the body harness wiring/immobilizer hacking to him.

You have no idea what it takes to synchronize 2 engines together to the point where you can effectively run two totally separate drive lines in one car. That and by the time you're done adding all that weight of a j series in the back IN ADDITION to what's already there, you're going to not only be heavier than an nsx, but far more out of balance than one.
I don't even know why I'm taking the time to try to reason with this post...

Re: * POST Your J Swap Pics Or Any J series Swap *
This is exactly what I did. BUT no hood shimming.
gen2 Hasport mounts on the higher setting
3.7 TL SH AWD upper manifold
Shimmed the passenger and driver mounts 1/2 inch
Cut some hood skeleton and done.
Didnt have to shim the hood at all either and oil pan clearance is decent. This was on a DC2. The car also uses 17" CCW LM12s. The 17 inch wheel size keeps a decent stance while still keeping good ground clearance. Dont even attempt to do this with a 15" wheel. May as well go to the higher setting and cut a hole in the hood if you do. 16" will work if you rock a decent amount of rubber. I had an even harder time making all this work than most since this car has a triptronic tranny and required custom trans mounts and a secondary torque mount. BTW this is the same car as the orange one pictured above. This is the new look.
