Default Stupid TPMS acting up

I have had problems with my TPMS since I've had my car. The light comes on every couple hundred miles to inform me my tire pressures are low. I do not know when it is supposed to be trigger, but I would not believe it would be as high as 30 psi. Every time I have checked the air before filling them up, it has never been below 30 psi. Anybody else have an issue with a 2008 Accord and the TPMS system for retards.

is it the actually TPMS letters or the tire thing wit the {!}...does it come on while driving or only in the morning? try settin all ur tire psi at 34 psi...the TPMS sometimes comes on when its cold outside or when the tire psi goes below 30psi...if its the actual TPMS light then have ur dealer check it out, could be a bad sensor or something

Are you driving somewhere to fill them up thereby heating the tires and increasing the pressure? Make sure you check them when cold before driving. The way the system works IIRC the tire has to get 1 pound above the sensors threshold before the light will shut off again. This is most likely the case if the light comes on when you first drive the car but goes out after driving it for a while. Although it is possible that the system is not calibrated correctly.

95% percent of the TPMS "problems" we are seeing are caused by cold weather under inflation.

I have a compressor at the house so everything is cold when I inflate them. It's not the TPMS light, it's the tire light to let you know you are low, not the malfuntion light.

Are you using the same gauge all the time? If so you may have an inaccurate gauge. We have our techs test theirs a couple of times a month because they do sometimes lose accuracy over time.

If your gauge checks out I'd take it to the dealer. The calibration of the system can be changed. We had an issue where we installed a set of HFP wheels on an Accord then swapped them out for the factory wheels when the car sold. The tech that reinstalled the factory wheels forgot to reset the system for the stock wheels which run a lower pressure and so the TPMS light kept coming on for the customer.

Yes I am using the same gauge. I did not know it would be recalibrated. Perhaps I will take it to them then. My fuel door also sticks shut and takes a while to open at the pumps. Damn hondas...

TSB 07-007 is for TPMS issues.

Low Tire Pressure Indicator Stays On, But All Tire Pressures Are OK

SYMPTOM
The low tire pressure indicator stays on, but all the tire
pressures are OK.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The TPMS sensor indicates a lower pressure than the
actual tire pressure.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the faulty TPMS sensor.

DIAGNOSIS
1. Inflate all of the tires to the pressures listed in the
doorjamb.
Did the low tire pressure indicator turn off?
Yes - You’re finished.
NOTE: This is not a warrantable repair if the low
tire pressure indicator goes off with proper air
pressure.
No - Go to step 2.
2. Connect the HDS to the DLC, and clear the DTCs.
Recheck the TPMS DTCs.
DTC 11-1: Sensor (Tire) 1
DTC 13-1: Sensor (Tire) 2
DTC 15-1: Sensor (Tire) 3
DTC 17-1: Sensor (Tire) 4
NOTE:
• If another DTC is found, refer to ISIS or the
appropriate service manual to troubleshoot that
DTC first.
• The sensor number does not indicate the
location of the faulty sensor.
3. Use the TPMS sensor tool and the HDS to
determine the location of the faulty sensor. On the
HDS, go to the TPMS screen. Select Functional
Test, then select Sensor Position Check. Follow
the onscreen instructions, then go to REPAIR
PROCEDURE to replace the faulty sensor.
NOTE: For more information on using the TPMS
sensor tool with the HDS, refer to Service Bulletin
06-072, TPMS Sensor Tool Usage or training
module SSC15, Initiator-less and Initiator Type
TPMS.

Paraphrased from Honda Service News:

According to NHTSA regulations, the low tire
pressure indicator must come on when the tire
pressure is 25 percent below the listed
recommended cold inflation pressure. To guard
against tolerance variations, the low tire pressure
indicator in Honda vehicles with TPMS is set to come
on when the tire pressure drops to around
20 percent. All Honda O/Ms recommend that the tire
pressures be checked and set at least once per
month. And they should be checked cold, which
means that the vehicle has been sitting for at least
3 hours or driven for less than 1 mile.
All tires—even those in good condition—lose tire
pressure naturally for a number of reasons, but
mainly because they’re porous. It’s common to lose
up to 1.5 psi per month. Secondly, it’s a scientific
fact that tire pressure drops with a drop in
temperature. You can count on a loss of 1 psi for
every 10 degrees of temperature drop. Here’s what
can typically happen:
It’s August 1, and the outside temperature is a
balmy 80°F. The vehicle owner checks and sets
his or her tire pressures to 32 psi—just like
it says on the driver’s doorjamb sticker and in
the O/M. We fast forward to November 1, and
the outside temperature is now a nippy 50°F.
The owner checks the tire pressures, but now
they’re reading only 25 psi, and on top of that, the
low tire pressure indicator in the dashboard is on
and the TPMS control unit has set a low tire
pressure DTC.

If you get a vehicle in your shop because the low tire pressure
indicator is on or has been intermittently coming on,
before you start any sort of troubleshooting,
remember what that low tire pressure indicator is
telling you. It’s not saying there’s a problem with the
TPMS, so hold off on heavy troubleshooting.
To make things right, first check the tire pressures. If
they’re lower than the recommended cold inflation
pressures, fill the tires to their recommended
pressures. If the low tire pressure indicator stays on
after you’ve done that, drive the vehicle over 30 mph
for about 1 minute—the indicator should go out. If it
goes out, you’re done with this repair. If it stays on—
or you suspect there’s a leak—then it’s high time to
start troubleshooting. And although one or more of
the low tire pressure TPMS DTCs (11, 13, 15, or 17)
will have been set in the TPMS control unit, don’t
bother clearing them—they just stay in memory.

Basically for my LX-P the cold pressure is 30 psi. The indicator should come when the pressure drops to 30-(30*.2) or 24 psi.

I'm not sure if this applies to me or not. Mine will go off but it is just way too sensitive. If the pressure drops to like 31 psi in any one tire, the light comes on. If I inflate them to 35, it will go off. Regardless, I believe the dealer needs to take a look. In the 2300 miles I have driven, the light has come on probably a half dozen times and my pressures have never been below 30 psi.
