cabin fan not blowing

cabin fan not blowing
my friends accord ac/heater fan isnt blowing, checked all fuses and relays under the hood, none of them are blown, all the vent control stuff still works, so im able to change the heater vents and the air direction vents. its just the fan that isnt blowing. another weird thing is that even though i turn the fan on and have it set to max ac, the compressor doesnt turn on. if it was just the fan motor that burnt out this shouldnt happen right? this makes me think its the switch or maybe a hidden switch transistor? any ideas? thanks!

Re: cabin fan not blowing
Although you didn't state what year Accord this is, my guess is a 7th gen Accord, as this has occur with some of them. It may be the blower power transistor. I actually recommend the part be replaced, however, info. is included below to be used at your own discretion.

Had the same problem on a 2002 Civic EX. Fan worked one day and didn't the next. Check all the fuses, under the dash and under the hood. Made sure the fan had not seized by removing the cabin air filters and spinning the fan with my fingers. All the wiring an connections were good.

Basically, remove the power transistor and wire a 1 ohm resistor across the terminals of the transistor as shown in the link. Once done, the fan blows fine. Problem solved.

Re: cabin fan not blowing
If this is a 7th generation model accord and since your blower motor is turning on neither is your compressor. Try taking off your front bumper and on the driver side (USDM Model) there should be couple of ground cables (possibly around 3-6 ground connections) connected to a bolt to keep them together and then connected to the chassis behind your vehicles intake track (you can't miss it it's under the driver headlight and in front of the driver wheel), you could have just a bit of corrosion on the ground cables just loosen the bolt and spray some WD-40 on it and remove the corrosion with a rag and see if that sends power to your units.

Good luck! I own a 2003 Accord EX-V6 and had A/C problems 3 separate times. Fortunately, my car was still under warranty at the time and the dealer repaired/replaced various parts of the system each time until finally deciding to replace the entire A/C system. It has been working without A/C issues for 2 years now...
