A/C clutch not engaging
Hello all! After getting ripped off on an A/C repair on my 2006 Honda Accord EXL, I have decided to take matters into my own hands, but I need a little help.
Symptom: A/C clutch does not engage, both fans run.
I went through the a/c compressor clutch circuit troubleshooting as follows: Tested the fuses, ac relay, clutch and the conductivity and power to the relay and the PCM. Everything appears good. When I short the relay the clutch engages and the A/C blows cold air, so I know the refrigerant and compressor are good (it’s a brand new compressor…they sold me a new one with out fixing the problem!)
The only things that I didn’t test in the service manual was the ECT Sensor temperature and the TP Sensor voltage because I wasn’t sure how.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem? I suspect it is a bad PCM, but I heard those rarely fail. I’m tempted to just install a manual switch that will engage the clutch. Is this a bad idea? Please help! It’s so hot out…
