do you have to pull the dash to install a new break switch

I guess the break switch should be close to the pedal. You may look for a service manual (in pdf) for your model.

The brake switch is still on the "pedal". What issue are you having and why do you think it needs replacing?

Also would help to know the details about your car - year, doors, engine, trans, trim level
