Default Anti Theft Question

Hey all,
I have a 2004 Accord V6. My problem started when I would lock the doors with the key fob, and the lights or horn would not chirp (no matter how many times I pressed the button). I thought nothing of it, I still used the key fob to the lock the doors, and now what happens is that the factory alarm goes off for no reason. (horn goes nuts and lights flash). What would cause this, and are they related? I have checked the door jamb switches, and they seem to work fine (when you open/close the door, it is indicated on the dash, and the dome lights go on/off), so I am pretty sure they are fine....I hope. ANY help would be great. Thanks

ALSO, I don't think it would be related, BUT, I do have a HID kit installed in the car. No wires were cut. Just plug and play. That is the only mod to the car, everything else is stock.

Has the car ever been wrecked? I have seen many fautly hood switches(built into latch) cause this kind of problem.

I never thought of that. My wife ditched the car about a year ago, and the front bumper was ripped off, among smaller front end damage. Also, I remember shutting the hood one day, and then this started, was back under the hood, shut it, and then it worked for a bit. I'll check it out and post results. Thanks.

hood switch is a good start...also do you have an aftermarket alarm, they go crazy all the time.

No, the Anti-Theft is factory. It is the hood latch/switch. I unplugged the connector at the hood switch, and tried it. Everything is back to normal. With the connector unplugged, the car thinks the hood is shut (switch closed). The only thing is that if someone opens the hood with the factory anti theft set, the alarm will not go off, but I have a new hood latch/switch. That goes in tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

That's funny you say that, my 95 Accord has a aftermarket anti-theft, and that goes nuts all by itself, but I know what the cause is there.
