Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
Really!! Is it upper ball joint only that is part of the knuckle like the previous or the lowwer is part of knuckle on newer Accords also?

Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
The lower ball joint should definitely be replaceable. You can press out the LBJ once the knuckle is removed from the car. The upper ball joint should be replaced with a whole new upper control arm. Moog sells replacement LBJs @ rockauto.

LBJ can be pressed out of the knuckle. The UBJ is part of the upper control and arm and should be replaced as whole unit. Some aftermarket UCAs come with removable ball joints, but OEM UCAs do not.

Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
You guys got me confused. Look at the link, the upper and lower have the same parts that come off- circlip, boot, castle nut, and pin. To me this says they both either come off or don't. http://www.bkhondaparts.com/billkay/...itch=&hidIrno=

Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
The lower ball joint is definitely replaceable. The OEM upper ball joints are usually tack welded or riveted to the upper control arm. It's less work and usually about the same cost to replace the upper control arm as a whole unit; you also get new bushings. The lower ball joint is pressed out because the knuckle is expensive to replace and you can keep your wheel bearings if they are still good.

Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
this is no longer true...honda now offers an upper joint in a bulletin. and all the honda oem parts in this area are priced so close to aftermarket( moog etc.) theres no reason to use anything other.

Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
You guys heard of a '03 with only 80k on the clock need BOTH lower Ball joints replaced? Just creaks when going from reverse to drive and then pulling away. Local gas station says both need to be replaced with a bunch of other work?? Wants $209 a peice to replace.

Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
i would take a look at the motor mounts(rear?) first...dont know alot bout ) '03 and up, but id doubt the ball joints are bad already...my 99 has 250k and all origianl there, no problems...also, check the tophats on the struts, sometimes they make noise if the bolts need tightening.

Checked motor mounts look good guessing maybe sway bar end links. How do you tighten the bolts on the tophats of the struts?

Re: 03 accord ball joint replacement
Also, $209 each for parts & labor is awfully strong. I normally charge 1.3 hours for a lower ball joint.
