Default Power steering

Hello all. I bought a 2003 Honda Accord for my daughter. The power steering was going out and fluid getting hot so much it melted holes in the resivour. I put a new pump and o rings on and flushed the system. She was just driving and smelt hot fluid. Stopped and it was actually so hot it melted the hose. I am at a loss any ideas would be appreciated. Never seen ps fluid do this. O ya its honda fluid

A power steering system is fairly simple: a pump, hoses and a reservoir.

I recently played with my Camry's power steering and used an emissions hose. I could not believe my eyes but I found out that the hose leaked. In other words the entire hose was wet. What kind of hoses did you use?

Good luck,
Sam

It was a factory hose. I am thinking there was a slight blockage somewhere. I am going to replace it and flush the ststem real good again.
