2008 Accord Brake Problems???
Hey guys I have a 2008 Accord and with only 15K miles, the rear brakes are gone!!!!
I called the dealer and they said that this seems to be a common happening. Siad it wouldnt be covered under warranty as its common wear & tear.
Anyone else have this problem???
Is there some sort of recall on this???
I would appreciate any info.
Thanks!!!

Its become a common problem on this and other forum sites....honda has no response to it except to tell you its a normal wear and tear operation..

I also talked to a few other people that own 08 accords and they said the same thing.
Just checking to see if anyone has approached Honda corporate and what they had to say.

Most posts I've seen the Accord owner had his brakes done free of charge. If the stock brakes are that bad, I think I would try some aftermarket pads. If the dealership agreed to do it free, I would give them another shot. But if they expect you to pay for new brakes, I would probably go aftermarket.

Re: 2008 Accord Brake Problems???
Any chance the brake pads are supposed to last 15K? The pads in my G35 coupe are lucky to make it to 12k, and that is normal. If you want stopping power, you will have pads that wear.
It reminds me of the Chevy Tahoe. They went to softer pads in '06 because the soccer moms were always complaining of squeaky brakes. The pads started wearing out around 30k, and the husbands of the soccer moms started complaining about premature pad wear.

Re: 2008 Accord Brake Problems???
my '08 accord is nearly down to its rotors at 13.5K miles (i'm not an aggressive driver)
i went to the dealership to see what they would say and all he said he could do was give me a 10% discount or i could risk going home and do further damage lol
i'm planning to use harder aftermarket pads, how much wear would the put onto the rotors?

yea I thought I was the only one, my girl has an 08 accord and we had to change the rears at 21k miles also, I was getting pissed at her telling her to stop riding peoples asses and slamming on the brakes, she said she doesn't and I called bull..... I guess I have to apologize to her......

Re: 2008 Accord Brake Problems???
that wouldn't preclude the issue from being pad material. the brake design is exactly the same as it has been for a decade or more

Re: 2008 Accord Brake Problems???
Well, went to the stealership on this and I heard a few different reasons.
1. The 08 Accord is heavier so it wears brakes out fsater
2. Brake pads are softer
3. A combination of both which is an engineering issue and that Honda Corporate is aware and will be addressing it in the future.
All of this sounds like their problems (warranty) and not mine but in the end, they wouldnt cover it.
We previously owned a 98 accord, bought it new and drove it to 160K miles. Only changed the rear brakes twice.
Gotta say, I am so disapointed with this that I dont think I will ever buy another Accord again.

"and engage in aggressive cost cutting to keep the company profitable in the current fiscal year, even as sales are predicted to continue their decline."
Not just cost cutting, but aggressive cost cutting.

My 03 V6 Sedan's rear pads were worn down at 47k miles. I do consider that a little early to replace pads, but since the brakes work fine, and I have never heard so much as a tiny squeal from them, I am willing to stick with the oem pads, and just change them when necessary. Of course, I changed them myself, so that may be part of the reason I don't see this as a big problem.

Of course - another negative post so Mschu closes the thread. Keep sticking your head in the sand Mr. Schumacher - maybe someone from Honda Corporate will come by and dig you out.

Re: 2008 Accord Brake Problems???
This happened on my 2007 Accord SE V6 also (Sedan).
It only had 28k miles on the car and I had to eat new rotors and pads in the rear. They said it was due to EBD and is normal. The front rotors and pads had 2/3's left. I think it's a crappy design. I have never had a car (new or otherwise) have the rear brakes go before the fronts. I realize that these are 4 wheel discs but come on.
If it's a problem they should have put larger rotors and calipers in the rear just like the front.
I contacted Honda corporate and nobody has done anything about it. I've done research and found that Honda knows about it but will not recall it.

To cut 5 cents per car on cheaper pads that wear out faster does not warrant a recall. To cut 5 cents per car on a cheaper piston ring and the engine looses oil and then catches fire, that would warrant a recall.
