Opinions on 2006 V6 with an AT?
I'm looking at upgrading from my 2003 V6 coupe with AT to a 2006 V6 coupe with AT. The 03 is beginning to have the 2nd-3rd gear flare up. Does anybody know of any typical problems to look for in an 2006 V6 with AT?
Thanks for all the insight! I love this forum!

The 06 could end up with the same situation. I think it would be cheaper to get a new transmission, than another car.

The 06 is selling at 13,500. I'm looking at getting 6,000 for my 03. So the difference is 7,500. The transmission job is about 2,500 so that's 2,500 I'm going to have to spend either way. So when you deduct that I'm really only paying 5,000 for a car that's 3 yrs newer with 100,000 miles less than what I have now. That's the way my mind sees it anyway. The Transmission comes with 36k 36 month warranty, so that's nice. The 06 only has 12k 12 month warranty. What to do... What to do...

I drove a 2004 AT 6cyl for a while, the AT did not last long. That was a loaner so after hearing about the 6cyl being to much for the Auto Trans I bought the one with 6spd manual. 6 years later only one clutch assy replacement. .Best of luck

It's a crap-shoot on the transmissions. Some have problems some don't. My 03 V6 AT is still going strong, but then I only have 85k miles on it. If the transmission went out now, I don't think I would be buying another V6 AT. My wife refuses to learn how to drive a stick, so that's out of the question. My truck is a manual, and I wish it was auto. Shifting manually just doesn't thrill me. I'd rather relax and just step on the gas. Call me lazy.

But after I drove my friends 6-speed I loved it.

I'm sure I would enjoy a 6-speed some days, but most of the time I like the luxury of an Automatic. I drive my manual truck most days, so when I do drive the car, it's a nice change. I will catch myself trying to push in the clutch and shift, then realize I'm in the car, and all that extra work is not necessary. Then I just ease back in the seat and enjoy the ride. They invented the automatic transmission for a reason, people like me.

not that i dont enjoy power windows... but if they offered it still, i would take roll up...
one less thing to break and pay $100's to fix.
same with power seats and key fobs...
i was literally heated when i found out my passenger door had no keyhole.
but i was kidding anyway

I've had power windows on both my Accords, and haven't had major problems with either car. It's nice to be able to lower and raise all the windows from the driver's seat. I could do without power seats, because it's actually quicker to move a manual seat. My wife puts the seat almost all the way up, and I put it all the way back, so I have to stand their holding the switch a while before I can get in. With the manual seat in the old Accord, it was a quick lift of the lever and swoosh, it went all the way back in a flash. I wonder if any car has manual leather seats? I know some people enjoy shifting a manual, but most days I'll take an auto.
