2004 Wipers Sweep Too Far
Just changed the battery and since then the wiper arms sweep way too far. When it goes to the right, the blades slam down to non-use position. Sound is way annoying and driving me nuts. Is this just an adjustment or a part that needs to be replaced. I don't want to go to the dealer, they love guessing and piling on the charges.

first check to see if the arms in tighten down. If there is still excessive movement in the arms when it is off then u need to replace the wiper arm links

Re: 2004 Wipers Sweep Too Far
i have an 05 accord with 120k on it.. i can apply the wipers on the dry winshield it will sweep back and forth fine.. but if i spray washer fluid on the glass or it rains it gets very sloppy and hit the apillar and bottom of the cowl really hard. the nuts are tight. so im thinking its the bushing in the transmission linkage.. can the bushing be replaced seperately or do i need the whole entire linkage at honda?

Re: 2004 Wipers Sweep Too Far
Although the last post in this thread is from 2011, it pointed me in the right direction to correct the same problem on my 2004 Accord earlier this week.
As Jspectyper posted, about $25 for the linkage arms and an hour or so of work in the driveway.
Having the wipers operate correctly, and almost soundlessly, is a great improvement!

All of these Solutions are well and good but they don't address the OPs original comment about how this occurred after the battery was disconnected. I too have experienced the same thing on my '04 Accord. Washer wipers were working just fine with no noise before the battery was changed and now they're slap crazy and driving me mad. A mechanical failure doesn't account for an electrical component being the initial instigator (seemingly).
Any thoughts?
