What's wrong with my accord 2008
Hi guys, I'm just going to say that I'm not good with cars. I can't fix them and I can't work them. I do maintain them very good though. I bought my 2008 accord at 65k mileage 2 years ago
Anyways, it seems to be having a weird problem. It tends to happen when it's cold but more recently it happens even if it is not cold. It's a noise that sounds like a growl or like a scratch when I accelerate. It is coming from the engine. My best guess is that it might be the belt but again, I'm not good with cars. The reason I'm asking is because whenever I go to the mechanic that sound doesn't come on, ironically it will the minute I leave the shop. And the mechanic in NYC tend to charge even if hey can't find the problem. So I rather go to a mechanic with an idea on what he should look at, which is why I'm asking you guys for some help here
On another note, Honda send me an email 2 months ago about a recall for high oil consumption. My car has this problem, when I first got it, changing the oil, I would fill the engine with 4.5 liters and when I change the oil 2800 miles later, it would have about 2.5 liters left. So I try to add extra oil every 1000 miles. Anyways, I did take try to take it to Honda dealer ships with mechanics but they won't honor the recall, saying that it's not a recall (despite calling Honda and them telling me it is). The dealerships also are asking me to pay 150+ just to see if there is an oil consumption. My question is, does anyone have any experience with recalls. I assumed you go in, they look to see if there is a problem and if there is, they fix it because it's their fault (Honda).

The oil consumption problem is noted in the links at the top of the forum. V6 engines had a problem with the VCM and some folks have had pistons/rings replaced to complete shortblocks. If the first dealership is being difficult locate another one that is more friendly.
However the dealership may ask for you to pay for the oil consumption test up front and if your car does indeed fail it, then you should be reimbursed.
It's not really a 'recall' it is a TSB, if your car fails the TSB test then the car will be covered/fixed.
