I have an 05 Accord EX 4D with 94,000 miles on it. I think it's time to replace the front brakes. They are original and have been great. I had noticed some grinding periodically over the last two years but the dealer says it has been fine with plenty of pad left. At my last checkup, they said the rotors are a little warped and the pads are at just under 5mm. I have been noticing some pulsating when stopping from high speed. I'd like to get the same pads and rotors to replace with, but I see there are a couple of different types of rotors (45251-S87-A00 vs. 45251-SDC-A00). How can I find out which ones I have now?

Alternatively, should I just wait until the rotors are really scored and the pads are down to the screws?

Yes, you should always wait until its metal on metal contact before you change pads.

As a general rule of thumb, this doesn't seem to make sense. Isn't the idea to change the pads before they damage the rotors? Most of what I've found suggests changing the pads before they get to 1/8".

In my case, the rotors are warped, which, I think, means that the damage was caused by heat, not the pads (directly).
