Default Weird smell when accelerating in 2004 Honda Accord

whenever I accelerate in my Honda Accord I get a weird, almost burning/heat smell. The best way to describe the smell is this: when i pop the hood of my car, the engine gives off a certain heat smell. This is what I am smelling inside my car. It doesn't smell like sulfur. It doesn't smell like fish. There is never any smoke. I went to the back of the car and tried to get a tiny whiff of my exhaust to see if it was the same smell. Didn't smell that burning smell back there. I took it to my local mechanic and he said he thinks is it could be a small oil leak somewhere. I don't know much about cars. When I googled this it seems like people were saying that an of leak would cause smoke. I do seem to have a bit of an oil consumption problem, oil levels get low faster than they should. I've never once seen a single drop of oil under my car. The smell seems to be getting worried. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Again, I don't know much of anything about cars, so I'm really clueless and frustrated here.

Thanks!

Could be a valve cover gasket leaking onto the exhaust. I had this before and have seen it on customers' cars.
