Vibration at 30-35 on '05 Accord

I'm getting a vibration sometimes when accelerating between 30 and 35. If I let off the gas, it goes away. I replaced both axles thinking that might be the cause. The right one was clicking with that bum CV joint sound. The wheels have been balanced, and I replaced plugs 2000 miles ago. Any ideas what's causing the vibration at that speed?

its usually caused from the cv axles, but since you replaced them already, Im assuming that they are good. possibly differential or wheel bearings.

Any ideas how I can check both without complete disassembly?

Are the tires wearing correctly, It doesn't matter how well the tires are balanced, if they are not round, they will vibrate regardless. Just something to think about.

Poor driveshaft geometry is very likely. You could have a bad engine mount allowing the powertrain to flex too much. Is this a 6 cylinder or a 4? MT or AT, as much info as possible. When did it start?

The condition has been going on for maybe 4 months. I've lost track. The car is a 4 cylinder automatic with 121K miles. I'm not sure, but I think the vibration showed up a month or two before I heard the CV joint clicking on the right side. I replaced the axle on that side, and the vibration went away for a couple days and then gradually started coming back. Today I changed out the axle on the drivers side. No change. The vibration is still there sometimes between 30 and 35.

Is this hard vibration?

Are your tires properly inflated?

I have the same and I think a connected problem. (04 EXV6). When I accelerate fairly hard at that same speed I get a feeling from the car that almost feels like the tires are loosing traction very slightly. It also has a vibration at that speed. Brand new Michelin Tires. Had balance rechecked, did it with the old Toyo tires (such on the car by the way).

I just had the tires rebalanced all the way around. They also rechecked the tire pressure, but the problem is still there. Could worn struts cause this?

BTW the vibration does get moderately hard sometimes. That's when I back off the gas, and it goes away. I've driven on smooth roads and I've now noticed the vibration or bumpiness is still there but not nearly as severe when I let the car coast at 30-35.

I don't think worn struts could cause that but you should get them replaced anyways if they are in bad condition...

Could be related to drive shaft. If axles are rebuilt they could be a crappy rebuild and need to be replaced again. Happens with them Autozone crappy rebuilds.

this may not be the problem but ive had customers confused with vibration concern.. is it more like the wheel shimmy does steering wheel shake.. or you can hear the vibration/rattle from the transmission. around 30-35 is when torque converter lock up takes place and when it slips it causes a vibration/shudder around that speed.

I have a similar issue when I let go of the gas on my 04' V6. How's the transmission? I think my issue is caused by a wearing tranny.

alignment if your wheel is shimmying

Re: Vibration at 30-35 on '05 Accord

if it was wheel balancing or alignment concerns or strut concerns the vibration would get worse the faster you go and wouldnt happen upon acceleration. it has to be something in the powertrain from the differential and axles, with a slight possiblity of being the wheel bearings. how is the conditon of your compliance bushings?

most likely its the transmission...

Hopefully just tires, either you need new ones or them mounted and balanced. Also, possibly wheel bearings or control arm

Okay! I feel like an idiot, but I think I found the problem...low ATF. DUH! I just drained it and put in the correct amount, and it seems to be okay now. I've only driven a few miles, but I'll see what happens.
