Transmission Recall?
Well I've been cleaning and checking for some of my car documents repair receipts parts purchases. and came across the Transmission receipt that I have and the more I think about it. I shouldn't have been charged for the replacement of the transmission since it was a defect. had to pay $500 deductible is this fair. I mean they did say free of charge have to pay nothing. its been since 2008 so I guess its to late but the WTF I've looked at the Transmission case and its all messed up from when they removed it plus I was charged to have it rebuilt and they should have replaced it and not rebuilt it. Anyone have any saying on this should I go back even though it been more then 6 years? has anyone had there Honda dealership have them pay some kind of deductible for this. Even though a Factory Assembled Honda Transmission costs well over $3000.00

Re: Transmission Recall?
Well, the recall was only to inspect the second gear, and install a jet kit if 2nd gear looked OK. It was not to replace the transmission. In 2008 you were a couple years past the warranty, so Honda really didn't have to pay for any of the replacement. Some people did get their transmissions replaced free, and I'm sure some owners had to pay more than you did. So, IMO, $500 is fair, considering they could have charged full price.
Did you buy the car new? How many miles did the transmission have on it when the tranny went? Was the recall "jet kit" installed in 2004?

yes the car was Purchased Brand New March 4th 2003 I was there only 10 years old at the time. also when the transmission went out it had 70,000 miles. fluid always changed and jet kit was not installed transmission was supposedly replaced.

Re: Transmission Recall?
So you didn't bring the car in for the recall, in 2004? What happened when the transmission went out? Was it acting up before that? I'm still on my original transmission at 116k miles, but I've maintained the heck out of it, and take it easy on it most of the time.

Honda told me to eat a dick.
those bastards dont even put transmission filter in the maintenance schedule. There are ******* 3 bolts for the filter, yet Honda claims its non-serviceable.
its a 10$ filter. There's no reason not to change it except that Honda wanted them to fail and explode transmissions

Re: Transmission Recall?
guess my mom who was driving it never payed attention to the recall notice. I'm at 136,000 miles now. The car was given to me and since my dad passed away along time ago. I inherited it when I turned 19 so I take it easy on this car. Has a lot of sentimental valve. But it was slipping and not going into gear before Honda rebuilt it.

slipping, banging, not going into gear. revving then going into gear I think even the D Green indicator came on. That's why it had to be replaced then. I'm just concerned with it now since. its my only car plus I still have to get it repainted. If the Transmissions go's out I'm in be trouble.

A swap is not a good idea. There are many differences, besides just the transmission, like the computer and wiring harnesses etc. You're better off selling the automatic and buying a 6 speed if that's what you really want.
