Default Tranny cooler lines Gen 7, 4 cyl

Tranny cooler lines Gen 7 (2004), 4 cyl

Does anybody know which of the two tranny cooler lines goes to and from the tranny? At the tranny, one connector is closer to the fender and one is closer to the engine.

I plan on installing a tranny cooler - we'll be towing a small camper. I want to be sure the cooler is plumbed in the direction I plan it, not in reverse.

There's a fat directional arrow molded into a plastic panel just below the tranny cooler lines, by one of the lines. But that could mean anything.

The cooler outlet line is the line that goes to the external filter on the transmission.

Thanks. Pretty sure I saw the filter on top of the tranny - but couldn't tell which line went to it. I'll have to look again.

So it goes tranny to filter to radiator, then back.
Until you add a tranny cooler to the setup.

There already is an ATF cooler in the radiator.

You're confusing me now.

When you say cooler outlet line - do you mean an outlet going out from the tranny to the filter, then to the radiator?

The service manual refers to the cooler outlet line as the line that normally goes to the external filter on the transmission.

Looking more at the diagram again, it does appear the fluid would flow from the transmission and then through the external ATF filter and to the radiator (via the longer hose/pipe).

I just changed my transmission fluid and filter (2007 Accord VP, Mothers car w/14,000 miles on it). Reading on another Honda site I was told the fluid flowed through the filter going toward the firewall, back to the transmission. The original Honda filter blows both ways easily. The Replacement Microfine ($9.99) filter from Napa which is larger and has a ring magnet for additional filtering is a one way filter. I checked the Chilton manual and the Accord shop Service manual and could not find anything about this filter and fluid flow. What pages and manual are you checking for flow??
