replacing upper ball joint
So I need to replace the upper ball joint on my 03 accord. Is it all one piece with the upper a arm? Also, will I have to get an alignment? I wouldn't see why I would? Any reccomendations.
Thanks in advance.

Re: replacing upper ball joint
Normally all one piece, no pressing out and in needed. Despite what you think, you WILL need an alignment since you are changing both your camber and toe angles, even if it may be a little bit. Any time you replace anything other than sway bar bushings or end links on your steering & suspension systems, 9 times out of 10, you will need an alignment!

I agree with eric.
Replacing the upper ball joints will change your camber. Camber afects toe directly. It may not be enough to cause your steering wheel to be off center or for your car to not track straight. But you don't wanna potentially trash some tire.
For a tech. Aspect I would say alighn the sob

Re: replacing upper ball joint
Upper ball joints come as a complete arm. New inner pivot bushings (or bearings depending on year) are included. The castle nut and cotter pin are not included if purchased from Honda. Aftermarket replacements usually include the nut and pin.
Common problem, simple and straightforward fix. Part numbers are 51450-SDA-A01 for the right (passenger) side and 51460-SDA-A01 for the left (driver) side.
You do not need to re-align the car after replacing the front upper ball joint. It certainly doesn't hurt if you're **** retentive, but is not strictly necessary.

Re: replacing upper ball joint
Alignment should be ok if the new arm is exactly same as old one.
It has two bolt on the frame and one bolt (ball joint) connecting
the knuckle. So, as long as you are using OE part. Alignment should
be same.
