opinons on purchase!
hey guys, my dad pretty much bought a 2005 Honda Accord 4cylinder, cloth interior, 4 door with only 50000km(not miles) for $17,000 canadian. it's very very clean.
I think it was a steal, but lets hear your opinions. I would like to hear any issues or problems/recalls that might be important or need to be checked.

dumb question, but what's 17000 in USD? You can find a v6 for about 14-18k USD.
sounds like the car is an LX or a DX. EX's can go for very cheap now, even an LX-v6. you may want to keep your eyes out for a better deal
the 4cyl motors do not tend to have any major problems. the k series is very well-built.

hey. yes it might seem a bit expensive, but i live down here in canada. Cars are badly overpriced compared to the USA. And i believe it was an LX.
And the k24 is avery well built engine, but a bit underpower for the huge accord IMO.
Anything else with the car?
thanks

as for the car itself, they're great. Many people prefer the handling of the 4cyl because of the lighter front end weight.
...but exactly how much more are cars there?
You can buy a new 2008 Accord LX 4cyl for $17,800 here in Kentucky at my local Honda dealer.

on another note regarding canada sucks *****, i just ordered a damn $100 timing belt and i'm getting charged $43 for brokerage fees. expletive THIS.

hey guys. my fathers car has around 60km. the warranty will expire at the end of march, he can get an extended 100,000km warranty that will expirt in 2012 or 160k for $1732. should he do it cuz i know these motors have been out since 03 and are absolutely reliable, but is there anything else on the car that it might be good for?
please give me your feedbacks.

Re: (.Hatches.)
First-that's too much money for a warranty.
Second-the only reason I got an ext warranty was for all of the electronic stuff in mine-I think the motor will be fine. If I hadn't got a loaded one with all the extra stuff, I wouldn't have gotten the warranty.

I've been talked into extended warranties a couple of times, and I have never really had much use for them.
An hilarious exception is that a dealer replaced the hatch struts on my '00 ITR free of charge, with 98K miles on the ODO. The car showed up burbling on the K-Pro, N1 suspension, RA-1, full cage, everything...and the dealer didn't bat an eyelash.
Nothing changed on the ITR to make it a track car in any way affected the rear hatch struts, so he said, what the hell. :-)
That's the only time I can think of that I have had to use a Honda extended warranty.
