non homelink -> homelink
Will the homelink parts plug and play into the non homelink console? Has anyone done this conversion in their 7th gen Accord? I did the autodimming mirror install a few days ago, and I wondered about adding homelink, and if it was possible or not.

Re: non homelink -> homelink
It would be worthwile to me as there are three garage doors I access from time to time, rather than having to get out and type in the keypad code outside the garage I could program the two I do not have transmitters for.

Re: non homelink -> homelink
I went to the Junk Yard today and was able to find one for my '06 Accord and my '99 Accord. I was VERY SIMPLE. I paid $20 each and the junk yard pulled them for me, so I got to watch how to remove & replace. (Free Training!)
In the NEWER overhead consoles, you can simply POP out the mic/door light switch/LED and replace the it.
Here's the overhead panel without the Homelink.
Here's the replacement one purchased from the junkyard.
The whole thing comes apart. Use the tabs to pop them out individually.
Four Screws (2 Phillips & two 8mm bolts) and two plugs. Be careful taking off the light covers. You could scratch up the assembly or break the light covers. I was very careful and had no problems.
Project complete.
It was super easy. I used just the HOMELINK/mic/door light switch/LED part because my installed light & sunglass holder was nicer.
Thanks to this board and this thread, I was able to do it. Sorry the pics are low res from my iPod Touch.
BTW, the one from my '99 Accord is ALL ONE UNIT. You have to replace the whole light assembly.
eBay was asking $35-$75 + S&H. The junkyard was a WAY cheaper option for me.
I hope this post helps, if you decide to "upgrade".
