new speakers and bad sound

new speakers and bad sound
Well, I bought some highly recommended Sony XS-GTX1620S speakers for the front doors. They've been installed, but amazingly it's as if I lost a lot of the deeper sound compared to the factory ones.
I'm not smart with audio so I'm wondering something. There are six speakers in the car with two tweeters up in the dash.
This speaker kit came with two door speakers and two small tweeters. Its kit also contains two "external crossovers". However, the tech did not install those two components.
It sounds as if I'm getting double tweeters and I can hear voices great, but musical instruments not so much...
I left everything else in the car the same.
Any advice? Should I go back and have those external crossovers installed? Should I just put the factory speakers back in?
Opinions welcome. Thanks!

Seperate Hi frequency sound from low frequency sounds. Which explains why your only hearing the hi frequency sounds coming from your speakers. I have mine hidden behind my door panel. Make sure you have them place somewhere the window wont run into when you roll down your windows.

Ah, okay that makes a lot of sense as to why the kit had a tweeter as well. Curiously, should I expect to hear a noticeable difference in sound quality as compared to the stock speakers that were removed?

Yes, dramatically. Or in my case it was a night and day difference. The sound was a lot more clearer and significantly louder. You might want to upgrade your stock head unit as well, if you haven't already.

I have done nothing but these speakers. What's the stock head? I'd prefer to keep the same stereo in there. I'd assume an amp and new rear speakers may be useful. I'm not wanting to be crazy loud or anything, though. Just like a little bit of KISS blaring on my highway drives.

Re: new speakers and bad sound
I scheduled an appointment to get the crossovers installed tomorrow morning.
In the mean time, the crossovers have a jumper switch for two options 0dB or -3dB. I know nothing about this kind of thing. The default is 0dB.
I feel certain that they won't continue to assist for-free aside from tomorrow. Any opinions on what to use?
