Need some help with key/transponder
The battery in my keys transponder had been getting weaker and weaker until it died on me last night. Got locked out of car at midnight at a walmart and had to get car towed.
I went to my local honda dealership today at lunch and told them I needed a new battery. I asked if I needed to have my car present and if I had to get the transponder reprogrammed? I got a no and a no.
I get home after work and my car won't start. I opened car no problem so I know the new battery is working fine, but when I turn the key, it doesn't even crank. Well, maybe for less than a sec and then nothing.
Car battery is fine, and I have never had any problems with my 2004 accord 4 dr lx.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

How do you know that your car battery is still good? Did you use a volt meter? Is the eye still green? Both may mean nothing if the CCA is low.

Re: Need some help with key/transponder
sounds like a dead battery or an evil cable end. I just replaced a battery cable the other day for no start on a 03-07 accord. How do you know the battery is good? To jump to a faulty key is premature seeing the car will not even turn over. Essentially a few things are needed for a car to turn over-- good battery, power wire to starter, ground path from starter, and a starter signal. Which one of these are you without?

I don't think a dead keyless entry is going to prevent you from not starting the vehicle. The immobilizer chip in the key is completely seperate from the keyless.
