Leaking clutch master cylinder

Leaking clutch master cylinder
I need to move my car about 2 miles to the mechanics to get it repaired, is it safe to dump some fluid in the master cylinder and limp it to the mechanics? I don't want to damage the clutch or any of the parts down there since I just got it replaced. I just need to know if it's possible/feasible/safe

Re: Leaking clutch master cylinder
Do you know where it's leaking from and how much? If it's minimal, then you can potentially get away with topping the reservoir and driving it 2 miles to your mechanic.
I would do this:
Turn the engine off.
Slowly top off the reservoir with DOT3 brake fluid (it's OK if some leak out when you lock the cap) and then engage your pushrod a few times in succession to cycle the fluid - in other words pump the clutch pedal 10 times. On a side note, if you feel the pressure is not consistent or getting weaker at this stage, you most likely have a leaking clutch master cylinder.
Return to the engine. Inspect for leaks from the reservoir to the slave cylinder. Also open the reservoir cap and inspect the fluid level.
The reservoir only holds 3oz. If it's dry, you've got a serious leak and I would not recommend driving it anywhere. If the fluid loss is minimal - like 1oz, then you can potentially get away with driving it safely to your mechanic after it's been topped off.
