Key Fob not working
Hey Guys,
I have a 04 Accord EX with power door locks that came with 2 key fobs that you can use to open/unlock the doors and also open the trunk.
Weird thing is happening. The second "back-up" fob is not doing anything at all. The little red light comes on and I even changed the battery. It does nothing at all when any of the buttons are pressed. I have done nothing to this fob except change the battery. Is there a way it could have forgotten the code and if so, how would reset it?
Thanks

Re: Key Fob not working
I know this is going to sound crazy but there is a Service Bulletin for this. you have corrosion build up on the battery connections in the fob. The SB says to clean the battery terminal surfaces and replace the same battery at a 90 degree different position than the way you took it out. I have had to do this for a few customers already with success.

Okay sounds good. I'll check that out and report back. I hope this is the case.
Thanks

Re: Key Fob not working
Found absolutely no corrosion at all. Hmm. This thing never even saw light. It was tucked away in my desk. The red light IS coming on so the battery is making contact.

Re: Key Fob not working
replace the battery in your original first. then reprogram them. To do this
Turn key on Hit lock button on fob
turn key off
turn key on hit lock button on fob
turn key off
turn key on hit lock button on fob
turn key off
turn key on hit lock button on fob
you should hear the door lock actuators work(you are in the programming mode)
hit lock buttons on both fobs you should hear the door actuators working with each button press.
Turn ign switch to off
Remove key and viola Whatever keyless remotes will work will work then.
You must do each step quickly for success. BTW most service advisors at dealerships will perform this operation free of charge. If you are not successful on the first attempt try again until it works. Hope this helps.

turn key off

Thanks! I will try this out. I had a feeling there had to be a way to program these FOB's.
Will report back

Re: Key Fob not working
Hello guys!!
I have kind of same problem; My key fob used to work perfectly in distances around 200' away from my loved Accord 2003 EXL Coupe, (just put your key fob below your jaws and push the lock button), but now. only works at 3" from the the window driver side. It´making me go nuts! I already changed the battery for a new one and cleaned a small corrosion in all the battery terminal surface. Does any one know what else can I do??? Thanks in advance.
