I have a '04 accord coupe and when i started researching a new windshield i was both pleasantly surprised (at the cost...under $200) and also worried after reading about OEM glass vs non honda OEM glass. Theres so much conflicting info i fear making a bad decision and ending up with glass that cracks/chips easily or doesn't look clear and unwarped. On the other hand if i go OEM it's apparently 3 times the cost. What do i look for and how can i be sure what the place that does the install doesn't screw me by installing crappy glass? Thanks.

I've never had a problem with the windshields from the glass guy. And at their prices it wasn't OEM. $200 or less and they come to you- jump on it.

pgw and pilkington brand windshields make all the oem glass for 90-95% of the car manufacturers out there so you cant go wrong

stay away from safelite and safelite brand windshields

i cant tell you how many cars i fix that safelite do, its not even funny

Thanks guys. Unfortunately there seems to be no "the glass guy" close to me. As for pgw and pilkington glass, thats good to know. I will have to call around and ask each place what they use and see if i can find that. I wonder tho....will they lie to me and will i not be able to tell by looking at it? (no small logo in the corner or some such thing)

Anyone in the L.A. area know of a place that uses known good glass like pgw or pilkington ?

The logo will be at the bottom corner or in the middle at the bottom

I have a feeling all the low bidders, and all i'm getting from all the places i contact are pretty low, ($200 & below) is going to be cheap glass right? And how about fakes? Is there a lot of counterfeit glass out there and if so is there a way to tell it's real pgw or pilkington?

I have used Allstar Glass (I have replaced my windshield 4 times within a 2 1/2 yr span...never the windshield's fault, just bad luck), and Allstar did 3 of them (1 OEM). Never had a problem (two PPG and one Pilkington) with distortion or cracking. I do think they pitted a little easier than the OEM one, but that could be because the last (current) windshield has been in there since 2007 and the others didn't last long enough to get pitted

And examples of what they are not doing right, for my info.

stop freaking out about the glass just tell them you do not want a safelite brand windsheild

google whatever you gonna use and check there feedback
