Default Honda Canada - Converter Issue

Problem:

I was told by a Honda dealer that if I install an aftermarket exhaust converter that I will have problems when I do the emissions test( only in Province of Ontario). Specifically, only the Honda original converetr will pass the test.

This does NOT make any sense at all to me, as it fringes on the edge of being unlawfull.

Anybody have any expereience with replacing exhaust system and passing the emmissions test?

All feedback much appreciated.

CK

Aftermarket *should* pass. Sometimes they don't in california, but California is ridiculously strict. I have an uncle in Ontario and IIRC he basically said if you fail so many times they give you some sort of conditional pass anyway.

Aftermarket cats are a lot cheaper because they have less material in them. Hence they don't work as good. That makes passing an emissions inspection iffy. If it won't pass try the O2 sensor trick: http://www.civicforums.com/forums/22...l?ref=esp-link

You are correct about the cat. The defouler trick however is only for keeping the light off. It will not help him pass the sniffer if he does indeed need a cat...
