Default Hey guys, idle question here.

Hello, I have a 2004 accord lx 4cyl, automatic. I swapped out the iac valve yesterday and I notice still that when I am coming to a stop my rpm guage goes down then up and back down. It doesn't seem as if it's going to die. I'd say it dances between 700-1200rpm for few seconds.

I did the relearn procedure as shown online and I also let the car run with the coolant cap off for a while since I had to disconnect a few small coolant lines.

I assumed it was that I did the relearn procedure wrong so this morning I went to do it again. The radiator cap started steaming pretty bad and I lost a small amount of fluid from the coolant reservoir.

Does anyne have any ideas what might be going on here? It's extremely hard for me to get my car into a shop as I'm in disability. Thanks for reading.

Fluctuations in the idle speed and coolant lines were disconnected could easily be due to air trapped inside the coolant system. Would bleed the system with radiator cap off and go from there. Once it has been done post an update.

A fluctuating idle is a classic symptom of a throttle body that needs to be cleaned. There are YouTube videos about how to fix that - watch Scotty Kilmer "Fixing a car that idles poorly". All you need is a can of Throttle Body cleaner and the knowledge to get the air intake stuff off. Nutzaboutbolts has a YouTube video on cleaning the throttle body on this exact model car "2003-2007 Honda Accord Throttle body cleaning"
