headliner install

Re: headliner install
The service manual says to remove the pillar covers, before removing the headliner, but you can squeeze it out from behind them. You have to remove the sun visors, front and rear map light housings, and side grab handles. You have to pull the headliner out through the passenger side front door, and it's a tight fit, so you're lucky if you don't crack it at the weak point across the moonroof opening. You can't reapply the old material, so I had mine done by an upholsterer for $100. It's a good idea to disconnect the battery, just to be safe with the airbags.

All you have to do is pop off the pillar covers on 1 side. The other side will slide out. may have to remove them anyways to get the headliner to slide back in.
If you want to do it yourself google headliner fabric. You can get it with the backing for $10-20 a yard. You'll probably need 2 yards. You have to scrub all the old fabric and backing off the headliner then spray adhesive on the headliner and maybe the material, depending on the adhesive you use. When you go to put the material on the headliner start in the middle and work outwards so you don't get any bubbles.
