green blinking issue, car wont start, will start intermittently
Hi. I have a frustrating issue, hope anyone can help. My key wouldnt start my 2003 Accord v6 for a few weeks. Well, one day I noticed the green key light blinking. So I take the battery out of the key and test it. The battery meter says it has 2.5 volts. The key in it is a 3 volt cr1534 or something, NOT a cr1616. I saw where all the keys use the cr1616. But my key didnt have that one. I put the battery back in the key and BAM, it starts right up. After all this time it just finally starts right up. So I go buy a new cr1534 or whatever it is and it starts right up. I figure I fixed it with the new batt. Later on that evening it doesnt start. After trying about 6 times it finally starts. I go online and start researching stuff and find out the keys really take a 1616, not what was in my key. Ok, so thats where Im at. Plus that tiny screw wasnt in the bottom of the shell either. Anyway, I guess I will find the cr1616 and seed if that fixes the intermittent start problem? If not, is it the immobilizer not recognizing the key for a few trys then it recognizes it and green key light stops flashing and it starts? Why is it taking so long for the immobilizer to recognize the key and start up? Weird. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

It is an immobilizer problem, the battery only powers the buttons. The battery does not have to present or good in order to start the car. Take the vehicle to a dealer and have them check it out.

It probably is due to a weak car battery. Get the car battery tested; doesn't have to done at a dealership. You may want to take a look at the car battery cables and connection first though.
A weak battery can cause intermittent crank but no start problem with the immobilizer system indicator blinking. With a weak battery, the starter motor may even sound strong; but, the ECM/PCM and the immobilizer system can't communicate. Honda has service info. regarding this.
Has nothing to do with the remote battery.
