Default Getting a 2010 LE-X Leather with NAV

Can't wait. Getting it next week. I racked up my wifes 05 Civic SI a couple weeks ago. I was amazed the insurance gave us as much as they did.

It was small for me so this new car will be great. Forgot to mention its the V6 Version. So I am looking forward to driving this car. Question though. Would it benefit is I installed a hi flow filter in it? K and N? Have any of you installed them and have you noticed a millage increase or performance?

You are in the technical section of the forum, not an introductions forum........so I am not sure why you're upset no one came running to say "OMGHI2U"

I'm assuming you mean 2010 LX, there is not LE-X. Congrats on the purchase regardless. Try giving the section a search for information on intakes. v6performance is another decent forum.

That must be a non-US model. There will be no benefits with a K&N. I have one in my V6. Actually, both V6s.

The only benefit is that you don't need to buy another air filter. Just clean it when it's necessary.

It's all gravy. I'm not sure if there is one in this section, there are in quite a few other vehicle specific ones.

The last car I had was an 05 Civic si 5 speed man. I know my mechanic said no way it would be worth installing a k and n in that. I was not able to find anything as to the air filters on here. Being new here I am having a little trouble but working my way through it.

Can you direct me in this? LINK? lol I was wondering why someone said it would not be worth it in this car. I loved the performance this car had on the highway during the test drive. I wondered if it would help in the fuel economy at all? If you could help me navigate to a forum or thread I would appreciate it.

I sell a ton of K&Ns here, but I try not to get anyone's hopes up on gas mileage or performance increases as it will be a small amount, may not be that noticeble. However, the biggest selling point is the lifetime filter aspect. Clean them every oil change (or longer, depending on your area) and you're good to go, it will start saving you money after the second cleaning. For sure worth it. I run them in every vehicle I have (Expedition, Cooper and Buell)

Hi Newbie here too. Newbies are restricted to the Technical part of the forum. Not sure why. I want to reply in another thread but I still have 14 days wait and 4 more posts to make before I can post there.
So I have no Technical questions, but I do have technical abilities in these types of forums.

Cheers!

Get a cold air intake kit from K&N.

You will notice a ~10hp gain.

Thanks for the info guys and yes I am waiting for the 15 day term to be over. I look forward to forcing my way through the rest of the site with as much style as my wife's new car has.

We picked it up tonight. What a nice ride. Super smooth and all the pony's she can handle.

I will post pics when I am able to.

I own an 8th-gen Civic (2007 EX Coupe, R18A1 with 5MT) but I'm looking around here investigating for my fiance who is looking to purchase a 2011 Accord EX-L I4

To answer your question, the K&N drop-in OEM replacement filter won't do much as far as gas mileage or performance, at least in my experience. I've got one in the '07 Civic and I had one in the '92 Accord EX I owned prior to the Civic. The '92 Accord sounded like it breathed better, maybe picked up a barely noticeable 1mpg, but not necessarily any extra power. I haven't noticed a significant difference in the MPG or performance of the Civic with the K&N. HOWEVER: I use a K&N because if you plan on keeping the car more than 50,000miles (~80,000km) the K&N will pay for itself. I drive about 36k miles in a year (58,000km), so the K&N pays for itself pretty quickly in my case. You clean K&Ns, instead of throwing money away clogging disposable paper filters. When my fiance's new car needs the OEM filter changed, I'll be putting in a K&N.

If you do go with the K&N, I've heard it recommended to clean the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor at least once a year as simple, cheap preventative maintainance.

Good luck & enjoy the car!

Actually, I would do it "now" so the OEM filter is still clean. So when she needs warranty work, you can put it back.

Honda have issued a service note asking the service department to warn customers about non-OEM filters (oil filters such as K&N).

So that Mag Act warranty thing will not fly. Good luck arguing that.

I still use K&N on both of my cars. And there are more than enough members here to tell you they never had a problems with K&N for years and years. I'll stop here so we don't go OT.

But do put keep your paper filter clean (when you put it back), so the dealer won't blame it on that too.

Good call...but I'll let the engine break in a little bit with the stock paper filter. But you raise a good point. Save the OEM filter before it gets noticeably dirty just in case.

I'll let her put 3-5k on it first...or wait until we get married and I get more time with the car.

Thanks!

Look at it this way too. If she decideds to trade in her car (years) later, put that paper filter back. And ebay the K&N for $$$. If you done the cleaning and the normal care, it will still be good as new.

From my experience and understanding you're only going to gain extra HP you can count on two hands alone, but not really any noticeable difference in MPG... I'll echo the fact that it will pay for itself when you don't have to keep replacing the filter... but, really, it's easy to do and gives the engine more of a growl anyway lol -- why K&N and not an Injen? ^_^
